Site Information
Richasi's Le Grand Chapiteau is a Cirque du Soleil
information archive. It provides not only information on each and
every one of Cirque du Soleil's creations through the years, but as well
as pictures, themes and reflections of these shows. While some of the information
comes from the before mentioned show programs and the Cirque du Soleil
website, I feel this site reflects my own intrepretations of the shows
with my own personal descriptions from what I have witnessed. So, let us
have fun and enjoy what we love - Cirque du Soleil! To do this, I wish
to eductate you on the workings of this site. Please select from the links
below:
Richasi's Le Grand Chapiteau is a complete multimedia experience, with audio, video pictures
and text to immerse you in the Cirque du Soleil experience. You'll find that the site is divided
into sections, and each section has its own individual sub-sections and content that it pertains to.
In order to make your stay a little bit easier, I shall explain the different sections of the site.
- CirqueCon
CirqueCon - the Unofficial Gatherings of Cirque du Soleil Passionates is a fan-organized
gathering of like-minded fans of Cirque du Soleil fans. Their humble story began in 2004 with
fans proposing a small gathering during Quidam's Vancouver run. Over the years since CirqueCon
has journeyed across oceans and trancended borders, touching fans across Canada, North America,
Japan and Mexico to much enjoyment. Although no longer following the sun, we invite you to
experience what CirqueCon was through their website. And who knows... perhaps one day CirqueCon
will gather again...

- Historia
Cirque du Soleil has a rich history that stretches back more than 25 years. Theirs is a
story about a group of young people who wanted nothing more than the freedom to dream a dream;
the tale of individuals who came forward at special moments in time to cultivate and move that
dream forward, and to eventually share it with the world. Individuals like Guy Laliberté, Gilles
Ste-Croix, Guy Caron, Normand Latourelle and Daniel Gauthier, amongst many, many others. Historia!
Celebrates Cirque du Soleil's pioneering spirit by reflecting on their long journey throughout
the years...

- FAQ - The CirqueFAQ
This is Richasi's CirqueFAQ, a project that began in 2001. Answers to some of
the most pressing questions are answered in the document, which will pop-up into a new window
for your enjoyment.
- Lyrics - "Words to Sing By"
Did you know that what fans now refer to as "Cirquish" - the imaginary language most
Cirque songs are sung in - was originally called "Salimbanco language"? Although the use of
made-up but ethnic sounding words had been used in Nouvelle Expérience, it was in Saltimbanco
that Cirque's composers first used a made-up phoentic language for most of its songs. Many of
those lyrics are available here for you to discover. Some have been translitterated by fans
while others come from various official Cirque sources. Enjoy!
- Interviews: "In Their Own Words"
Since the inception of Le Grand Chapiteau's companion, the "Fascination! Newsletter",
we've had the honor of meeting and talking with many current and former Cirque du Soleil
artists. In Their Own Words highlights those meetings and the many questions we've posed
to Cirque du Soleil performers, musicians, technicians and behind-the-scenes personnel
over the years... and their answers. May you find their words interesting, informative
and inspirational!
- Specials: "Behind the Curtain"
Since the inception of Le Grand Chapiteau's companion, the "Fascination! Newsletter",
we've had the opportunity to rummage through Cirque's history on more than one occasion.
Thus, in SPECIALS, we go back Behind the Curtain to share the many rewarding and fulfilling
aspects of our research: from quirky items found lurking within programme books and items
produced by other companies, to affiliations of the Cirque and everything else under the
Soleil uncovered in our endeavors.
- Events: "Beyond the Bigtop"
Over the years Cirque du Soleil has reached Beyond the Bigtop, producing special
event performances for a wide variety of audiences and venues.EVENTS aims to discover
these special Cirque du Soleil outings - whether through shows for corporate meetings,
televised specials, private VIP performances or rare public appearances - and share what
is known of these very special creations. As such we've split what we've been able to
find into two pages. Page 1 contains special events from 1995 through 2006, Page 2
contains those from 2007 though 2009, and Page 3 contains those from 2010-2015.
However, due to the very nature of some of these "special" productions, our listing
may not be comprehensive.
Richasi's Le Grand Chapiteau is always expanding with new pictures and new text as
the information becomes available. So, please, check back often as you never know when something
new will pop up! [You can check the Update Log by clicking on the Date from the main page. It's in
small print down at the bottom left of the screen]
