As the title suggests, 'Twas the Night Before is inspired by the familiar holiday poem called "A Visit from St. Nicholas" attributed to American author Clement Clarke Moore in 1837. The poem is largely responsible for some of the conceptions of Santa Claus from the mid-nineteenth century to today. It has had a massive impact on the history of Christmas gift-giving. Before the poem gained wide popularity, American ideas had varied considerably about Saint Nicholas and other Christmastide visitors.

Cirque du Soleil’s first-ever Christmas show, 'Twas the Night Before... is a flurry of love, Christmas cheer, rip-roaring fun and hugely lovable characters that will become a new tradition for families to cherish.

For the 2023 holiday season, Cirque du Soleil presented three different tours of Twas the Night... (Green, Red, and Blue) with the same acrobatic line-ups for each tour. The only disciplinary difference was in the act-in-rotation: for the Green Tour, the act-in-rotation was "Solo Aerial Hoop" and for the Red and Blue Tours, the act-in-rotation was "Solo Aerial Straps". Otherwise, the show flowed as normal.
