These four breathtaking and seemingly weightless creatures float, tumble and
fly through the air. An operatic aria resounds through the Big Top while their serene
aerial dance conjures up images of fantastic white birds reaching toward the heavens.
The passionate side of "Saltimbanco" now ensues as one of Cirque du Soleil's most operatic
songs "Il sogno di volare," compliments the beautiful Bungee Ballet. Franco Dragone wrote the
lyrics and, as the flyers take to the air, a string ensemble escorts a soaring melody line. When
the bungee artists descend, a sorrowful ambiance ensues. The end is near.
Sometimes referred to as the "Bungee Act", the performers of the Elastics wear all white - they
are angels that fly amongst the clouds. Their actions toss, turn and leap into our hearts as they
look down upon us. A stunt sport turned art form is what the "Bungee" and/or "Elastics" really is.
By using elements of the bungee (think bungee jumping) and a trapeze bar, upper body strength is
showcased. Timed perfectly and performed to wonderful music, the "Bungee" and/or "Elastics"
performance is truly "ballet without gravity". First seen in Saltimbanco, it migrated to Mystère
and was featured in the IMAX production: Journey of Man.
