“Each acrobatic number has its own respiration, its
own rhythm, and its own arc,” say Bob & Bill. “The music has to take that into account – not only
in the interests of the audience, but in the interests of the artists too.”

Indigenous influences and vocal rhythms are brought together in TOTEM through the imagination of two new
Cirque du Soleil composers, Bob & Bill (Guy Dubuc and Marc Lessard). Intersecting cultures and genres, the
duo worked closely with the stage artists to provide each acrobatic act with its own respiration and energy.
The result tells the story of humanity by weaving together native music and instruments from around the world,
ranging from North America’s
First Nations, Spanish flamenco, to the sounds of the Indian subcontinent.
